Coding It Forward - Civic Digital Fellowship
Apply by January 24, 2021 at 11:59 PM PT

Coding it Forward is looking for our next cohort of Civic Digital Fellows —mission-driven students and recent graduates who want to use their software engineering, data science, design, or product management skills to contribute to high-impact projects at federal government agencies. As a Fellow, you’ll receive one-on-one mentorship opportunities, participate in intimate conversations with leading technology and civic organizations, benefit from a strong and supportive community, and have the opportunity to impact a large user base—323 million Americans.

Join the 200+ Civic Digital Fellowship alumni who’ve worked on high-impact projects —including saving taxpayers millions of dollars in survey costs using machine learning algorithms at the Census Bureau, building tools for diplomats abroad at the State Department, and developing a tool at the VA for Veterans to more easily take advantage of their GI Bill benefits.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis so we encourage you to apply early. See attached flyer. Contact recruiting@codingitforward.com with any questions.

Black Queer Town Hall in STEM: Celebrate the intersection of Blackness, Queerness, & Science
January 12-15, 2021

The original Black Queer Town Hall (BQTH) was held in June 2020 with the vision of "cultivating community, sharing knowledge, and uplifting voices in culture." Following in the same vein, we're introducing the BQTH in STEM, broadcast through YouTube from January 12-15, 2021, with the added goal of creating a hub for Black Queer youth and scientists to communicate and find community. We hope that, by increasing visibility of Black Queer scientists, we can increase their recruitment and retention at all levels, whether they be students with nascent aspirations of a career in STEM or those already in it. See attached flyer.

Hack(H)er413
February 13, 2021

Hack(H)er413 is the first all-women and non-binary student hackathon in Western Massachusetts open to all-women and non-binary students interested in technology and innovation, regardless of major, coding background, age, or experience! Our 2021 hackathon will be held virtually for the first time ever as a single 8-hour day event that will include tons of useful workshops, great networking opportunities and chances to interview with sponsors! While we will not be hosting a project contest for this year’s event, the virtual environment will allow for students from all over the U.S. (and possibly beyond!) to attend the hackathon. Find more information on our website.
