GWE book and media club

The GWE book and media club is choosing their first meeting topic of the semester! Check out the poll in the #general channel of the GWE Slack. To join the GWE Slack, click the Slack logo button at the bottom of this email.

Meetings will be Mondays at noon and approximately every two weeks. Keep up with the book club through updates on Slack!
Speaker Series is starting up
Kick-off speaker: February 17th 6-7 PM

Sherri Messersmith, coming from academia, will be the first guest in the GWE Speaker Series. Events will be held Thursdays from 6-7 PM, in person at Sutardja Dai Hall. The other upcoming speakers are:
  • Kristy Hawkins (Industry): Feb. 24th
  • Chaeyoung Shin (Start-up): Mar. 3rd
  • Vi Rapp (National Lab): Mar. 17th

Tesla Energy Internship Recruiting Event

Register for Tesla Energy Week; a private, 4-day virtual event from Tuesday, February 22nd through Friday, February 25th. Each day we will showcasing a new team from Tesla Energy. To register, follow this registration link.

Once you register, expect an email one week before the event with a Microsoft Teams Meeting link to access the virtual event. This will be a great opportunity to connect with hiring teams, learn all about Tesla Energy, and gain access to an application link exclusive to Tesla Energy Week attendees.

2022 SPLiCE symposium

The SPLiCE Symposium is an event for STEM graduate students and postdocs to network and get advice on leading or joining a peer-led STEM group. All graduate students and postdocs are welcome to attend the Symposium, including current STEM group leaders, group members, and those thinking about joining or starting a STEM group.

Graduate Pathways to STEM (GPS)

The mission of Bay Area Graduate Pathways Symposium (GPS) is to inspire diverse talent to become the next generation of innovative leaders through advanced engineering degrees. Bay Area GPS is a one day conference where students attend informative workshops addressing the benefits of pursuing an advanced degree, both MS and PhD, while also preparing for graduate school and the application process. GPS promotes graduate school opportunities to underrepresented minorities, first generation, and low income students at Bay Area, Northern California and Southern California universities.

Are you interested in volunteering for the Bay Area GPS 2022 conference happening this Spring 2022? We are seeking board members to work on all the components of the program and want to see who is interested in working to make this happen. Planning meetings are expected to start soon, so if you are interested or know someone who might be, please fill out this form.
