Join us for our first Grad School 101 workshop of the semester! Lunch is provided for those who RSVP. In this workshop we will cover the basics of living in Berkeley, such as where to buy groceries, how to get around, and how to get your California residency requirements established!

George Mason University InSPIRE Speaking Opportunity
Looking to promote Early Career (advanced PhD students, postdocs, beginning Assistant professors) aspiring academics who are interested in research or teaching faculty roles & who are focusing on new, cutting-edge and innovative research or teaching methods with implications for socially conscious engineering and/or technology. This could be through the lens of DEI or social justice - with preferable focus on marginalized communities (Black, Latiné, Indigenous, Women, LGBTQ+, Persons with Disabilities). We welcome the following disciplines:
$1500 honorarium + $500 travel stipend (if in-person), and receive a featured article on George Mason’s College of Engineering & Computing’s media pages.

2023 NSF GRFP Application Workshop - Sep 7, 11am
The 2023 NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) application is now open! The NSF GRFP provides three years of support to outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and social science disciplines who are at or near the beginning of a degree earning program.
The Graduate Division will host an NSF GRFP Application Workshop (via Zoom) from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm on Wednesday, September 7th. Attendees will have an opportunity to hear from a panel composed of successful applicants and a previous faculty reviewer, as well as ask questions.

POWER - Bay Area Mentoring
POWER - Bay Area is a mentoring program and workshop series for East Bay community college students organised by UC Berkeley graduate students and postdocs. POWER supports undergraduates from marginalized genders interested in the physical sciences, and we welcome participation from anyone who feels they would benefit. POWER’s mission is to provide each student with mentors to help them navigate their goals, to expose them to relatable role models, to empower each student to seek additional resources as their goals and needs change, and to ultimately help each student develop a sense of belonging in science.
We are currently looking for graduate student, postdoc, and research scientist mentors for the upcoming academic year.
Mentors are expected to:
